What they're saying about Vagabond Vistas Photography Workshops:  "As a former teacher and teaching supervisor, I have a pretty good understanding of what characteristics go into making a great teacher: passion for the subject, the capacity to convey the information in creative and varied forms, and a sincere interest in the students are my top 3. David meets all 3 criteria in my book. Taking his "Composition" and "DSLR" classes were invaluable choices in advancing my skill as a photographer and encouraging me to see differently. I look forward to my next learning experience with David."

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS OVERVIEW & SCHEDULE

Throughout the year, David offers a wide range of group classes at his comfortable studio in the Asheville River Arts District (North Carolina).  His "holistic" approach to instruction ranges from beginners to advanced amateurs to aspiring professionals.  With class sizes currently limited to just seven students, David provides invaluable insight into the workings of today's digital cameras and computer software and shares age-old compositional techniques and wisdom.

David has an uncommon ability to connect with photography enthusiasts of all skill levels and in many facets of the craft (including essential "digital workflow" processes such as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop CS).  His vast experience as a traveler and artist, along with his "keep it simple" approach to photography make his workshops both enjoyable and informative.

Listed below is David's growing line-up of studio-based events.  For more details and to register, please visit the specific event listed on the drop-down menu for this section of the Vagabond Vistas website.

Megapixels & Megabytes - Demystifying the "Megas"
The building blocks of a digital image are these tiny things called "pixels".  With each exposure, literally millions ("mega") of them are required to record the light that travels through the lens and aperture, past the open shutter, and on to the camera's digital sensor.  This image, captured by the pixels, is then converted into a digital file, usually a JPEG or RAW format (and can be many "megabytes" in size). But, what does all of this mean and how does it affect the quality of a photograph? This special two-hour seminar serves to clear up the confusion about digital resolution and file types.
